Want to jump on the latest email marketing trend? Follow my instructions below to create your own animated header for your newsletter.
Note: The instructions below are perfect for those with little to no graphic design knowledge and for those who don’t have access to Photoshop. If you do have access to Photoshop, I recommend you build your animations there.
Step 1: Create the Images
You’ll need to create the series of images for your gif to use. I created the images in less than 2 minutes inCanva using their email header template.
Step 2: Create the Animation
Now that you have created the series of images, it’s time to put them together! I use Gif Creator because it lets me choose the timing for every single image. This is useful if you want one image to move by faster or if you want to pause on a specific image. You can see the timings I chose for the animation above.
Once you had upload your images and have set the timing, create your animation and download the gif.
Step 3: Add the Gif to Your Newsletter
To add the gif to your newsletter, follow the same instructions in your email provider for adding images. A gif is treated the same as a regular .jpg or .png, so you won’t have any issues adding it to anything that takes regular photos.
Bonus: Send Me Your Gifs!
Did you come up with a clever gif? Show it to me! You can tweet it to me @hidama or send me your newsletter at sarah[at]saraheggers.com. Here are some of the other gifs I’ve created:
